DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
I have always wanted to make a movie about time travel. During that period, I also regained my interest in painting. Since I stopped using the brush five years ago, I haven't painted again. So, almost effortlessly, I decided on the theme of this time travel story: about a person who is confused about their hobbies, gradually finding their original intention. And the white fish is not only the clue for the time travel, but also the reflection of the protagonist. You can see that there are many symbolic elements in the movie: the fish symbolizes Bai/each space's story symbolizes Bai's past experiences/ the red scarf represents Bai's original intention. Finally, you can see that it is the fish in the projection room that helps Bai gradually overcome his inner conflict, which is also my process of thinking about how to deal with my past hobbies.
This film is produced as part of my practice-based dissertation project.
SYNOPSIS
Bai is a painter and she is currently at a career dead-end. Bai is disappointed with her career. By chance, Bai entered a projection room. On the wall of the projection room, there was a white fish. In the projection room, whenever Bai drew on the canvas, she would be transported to a random space. The day the story began, Bai had already been transported several times. During the continuous transference, Bai discovered that although the girls in each space were different, each girl had her original appearance. And the numbers that appeared on her arms each time were also the most important moments she had experienced. Some of those moments were very painful, while some were very happy. Finally, Bai released her burden and escaped from the projection room.
