DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Through the Void (2025) is a film which explores grief, hope and scepticism through characters navigating a life-altering event. We had the ambition to build the atmosphere by focusing on heavy production design and lighting effects. It was amazing to see the vision come to life through the hard work of so many talented people.
This film is produced as part of short film prodcution module.
SYNOPSIS
Noah and Elizabeth meet with a medium to try and talk to the spirit of their child who passed away. After attempting it once, Noah freaks out and declares the entire thing to be sick and storms out. Elizabeth and The medium attempts to try again but the connection to the child is now gone. Elizabeth and Noah reconnect at home where they agree that everything isn’t okay but eventually it will be.

A student in film and creative writing and has worked on several student films, e.g. as cinematographer in Pirate Silent Film (2024), a production designer in Haunted (2025), and other roles. Has also written, directed, produced and edited several independent projects, one of which they acted in.

Artwork featured in set design for Corran Gourlay’s Paint (2024). Previously directed The Key (2024). Production designer for 002 (2025). Currently directing stop-motion short Stitch (2025).

Lancaster University. Worked as Producer of Through the
Void (2025) and Who’s Watching You (2024) as well as Grip / Gaffer on Echoes of Us (2025). Prior experience consisted of Script writing and short films created during A-Levels.

Second-year student studying Film and Creative Writing. Worked as a gaffer on the short film Haunted (2025) and as the cinematographer on Through the Void (2025). Has a year of filmmaking experience prior to starting university. Loves to write period pieces and fantasy short fiction. Aspiring author.

Second year Film and Creative Writing student at Lancaster University. Worked as both BTS photographer and runner on Styx and Stones (2024), and as lead editor and assistant director on The Secret Meeting (2023). The only experience acquired prior to film making, has been through script and prose writing.

Second year film and English literature student. Has worked as sound designer and editor on the short film The Key (2024) and as editor and assistant writer on short film Through the Void (2025).
He/Him
Second year university student, studying Film and Creative Writing. Spent two years studying media production prior, then worked as sound designer on various projects like Chase Scene (2024), Through the Void (2025) and as boom operator for Faith in a Bottle (TBD). Free time gets spent on personal projects, writing and coding for video games.
