DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Stitch (2025) was a very personal solo project. Through stop-motion animation, a soft sculpture head, made by me, literally falls apart and puts herself back together. Stitch engages with themes of fragility, destruction and repair, serving as a metaphor for healing and how the process itself is painful. The visceral imagery of vomiting represents the way repressed material resurfaces (that which can no longer be ‘stomached’). Although she rebuilds herself, May is left with evident scars – embodying the lingering emotional wounds left by trauma.
