ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a mixed media artist creating immersive, three-dimensional video installations that explore perceptions of the world through the mind’s eye. My work bridges digital and physical elements to reflect experiences and effects of mental health, especially the stigmas surrounding psychosis.
My process begins with gathering digital artifacts from real spaces that interest me, scanning them into 3D models using Polycam. These fractured scans are combined with symbolic imagery and fantastical creatures to create video worlds which blend reality and imagination.
I expand these digital worlds into physical installations using sculpture, painting, and drawing - pulling the virtual into the tangible. I often emphasise the distortion using refractive objects to create spaces that feel both surreal and familiar.
Themes such as spirituality, paranoia, and sensory disturbances frequently appear, influenced by my interest in how mental illness alters perception as well as Plato’s theory of forms, which connects the material world to a higher spiritual plane.
Through the creation of my work, I aim to reduce stigma and offer an alternative, empathetic lens through which to view psychological experiences. Allowing the audience to journey through an alternative version of reality.
