DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Within this film, I primarily wanted to experiment with the idea of how accessible the Single shot film is to an amateur and low budget filmmaker. Inspired by films such as Victoria (2015) and Boiling Point (2021), I also wanted to use it as a way to explore the tensions of familial relationships when faced with tragedy, and how families can either come together, or fall apart. I gave the actors a base script and blocking, and told them to improvise. The film you see is the second take out of 3 (technically 2 and a half, as I fell off a chair during one!). It is in no way perfect, but as an attempt at a style that is notoriously high budget, it's a film I'm really glad I made, if anything, as an opportunity to work on camera movement, and getting a chance to work with two very, talented actors. I hope you enjoy!
This film is produced as part of my practice-based dissertation project.
