ARTIST STATEMENT

Liquid Surveillance

My practice explores surveillance in the digital age. I am interested in how individuals simultaneously watch and are watched, highlighting our complex roles as both observers and subjects.

In my graduation project, Liquid Surveillance, I use jelly candles to reflect the fluid and unstable nature of modern society. Jelly candles solidify on the panel, breaking down the boundaries between flow and stillness, matter and image. Interactive visuals, created using TouchDesigner software, are projected onto static wax paintings. Viewers trigger visual changes through their movements or sounds, becoming active participants within the artwork.

By combining physical materials with digital technology, my work prompts viewers to reflect on personal privacy in a connected world. The interactive element makes visible how private actions are subtly transformed into public data, highlighting the blurred boundaries between observer and observed in the digital age. My work situates itself within contemporary art by demonstrating current concerns about privacy, technology, and identity.
