DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
This personal experimental project allowed me to explore and visualise my own perspective of seeing and what goes on inside my mind, to understand myself better and utilise cinematic and editing techniques to interpret to others what words can’t fully describe. We all see the same world around us, but it is how we see it that is different. With Kaleidoscope, I wanted to invite viewers to see the world through the ‘kaleidoscope’ lens that I do. The film sets out to distort reality in different ways; through transforming and layering everyday images and sounds in a more literal visual image, and through a more abstract visual image with the explosion of colour and shapes in a rhythmic, systematic yet hectic manner, just like a kaleidoscope, attempting to recreate what I see in my mind’s eye when I close my eyes.
This film is produced as part of Experimental Cinema Module.
