DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Inspired by structural film, In Heat, We Break uses minimal images, flickering lights, and manipulated sound to create a sensory overload that reflects anxiety’s chaos. The microwave metaphor expresses escalating pressure while disjointed color changes and a looped structure reject traditional narrative, inviting viewers to co-create meaning. Drawing from the microwave’s heat and rotation, the film offers an immersive experience of psychological breakdown. By focusing on color and sound as independent material elements, it subverts mainstream cinema’s illusions and communicates emotional truths without words, deepening the unsettling atmosphere and growing tension.
This film is produced as part of Transgressive Cinema Module.
