DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
‘GIVENCHY’ is a film which seeks to explore the relationship between memory and documented family video using a Hi8 Camcorder as the key interface upon which the film is built, highlighting the implications of, and physical connection with the recording device.
This film is produced as part of Transgressive Cinema Module.
SYNOPSIS
GIVENCHY SUN 18 MAY 2003 shows how our life stories can be tied to the time period in which they are recorded through the aesthetics of a style of video—and how in future, we may look at smartphone recordings with the same quaint lens we now view Hi8.
